Little backstory
When I started with the whole Sims thing, meaning when I first opened up my Instagram account for The Sims 4 I didn’t know how big is the Sims community. I had no idea. But people started liking my game screenshots and started engaging in comments, liking and all that. Soon after that, I discovered people uploading videos to Youtube of them just playing the game. So, I created a Youtube account for my own Sims 4 videos. Alongside that, I created a website for my Sims where I uploaded my Sims tray files and custom content lists. Obviously, I didn’t start earning by just creating a website. It took me quite a while to get enough page views and subscribers to get to that point. But I was determined and as I grew subscriber by subscriber and gained some pageviews I was qualified to get monetized by Google Adsense. I was so thrilled when I earned my first cent. I thought I’m gonna be doing this for a living: playing a game that I love and earn money doing just that.
Reality check
The first month I made 5.07€
2.69€ from Youtube and 2.38€ from my website.
I was still happy. It was money that I earned.
The next month it was 8.96€ and month after that 12.98€ and it grew from there.
Adsense has a payment threshold that you need to reach before you get paid. In euros, it’s 70€. For dollars it’s 100$. I started with Adsense July 2016. I got my first payment in May 2017. So, I had to wait quite some time to get my first real money sent to my bank account. And from there I got paid every other month for a while. It wasn’t until early 2018 I started getting paid monthly. Usually, it was between 70-120€.
I wanted more
Like it’s natural to humans – I wanted more. After a while, I started looking into other Ad services because I knew I could earn a little more. I started doing my research and I stumbled onto a company named Ezoic, Inc. According to different articles and blog posts, Ezoic promised an increase in ad revenue between 50-200%.
Ezoic is a software that caters to publishers, and give them all the self-serving tools they need to grow their website and their revenue. You earn the revenue, they give you the tools to do so.
I was skeptical but I wanted to try it out myself. I had nothing to lose. Joining Ezoic is free and the only thing I had to do was to place some placeholders to get started.
The first month of only using Ezoic
The first month of only using Ezoic I earned $567.59 (~513€) which was huge for me. Meaning my avarage EPMV(Earnings Per Thousand Visitors) was $7.09.
With Adsense, my highest paycheck was for 180.75€. The next month I made $630.35 (~570€). Needless to say, I stuck with Ezoic and I’m happy about it. hehe
Sign up with Ezoic
As I mentioned before it’s completely free to sign up with Ezoic. The only requirement is that you have 10.000 visitors per month. Once accepted, you get a personal manager at Ezoic to help you out with all the questions you may have. They even placed some ad placeholders for me which was neat. So, their support system is pretty great.
Conclusion
For me, Ezoic has been a huge game-changer. And I highly suggest giving it a go. If you don’t like it, you can simply go back to using Adsense.
Things to keep in mind:
You need to have Adsense before applying for Ezoic, so if you don’t have Adsense just yet, I recommend reading this and this article to get started.
Good luck! ♡
P.S. I’m not an Ezoic or Adsense expert and my website is created by a friend of mine. So, if you have technical questions about either of those I would suggest asking from Ezoic’s customer support, they’re very friendly. Or just use Google, that’s what I did. ♡
