This tutorial is for ReShade 3.2.2 released on April 22nd 2018.

1. Go to https://reshade.me/ and download ReShade

older versions: click

2. Open the installer (Right click on the installer and Run it as administrator)

3. Click on “Select game” and find your game.
Usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin
and choose the .exe file (depending on which version game you have choose 32 or 64bit)

4. Select “Direct3D 9” and if it asks “Do you wish to download a collection of standard effects from their Github, click YES (otherwise other peoples presets may not work properly for you).

5. Select everything and hit OK

6. ReShade installation part is over and you can close the installer.

7. Now we need some presets.
You can find my personal favorite presets HERE.

8. For presentation purposes let’s download this preset by whiisker.

9. UnZip the file. Move the preset (.ini) in to the Bin folder.
Usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin

10. Open The Sims 4 game. (The game may be slower and even freeze but this too shall pass 😏 so don’t worry about that)

11. To open ReShade in game hit Shift + F2. Follow and Read the tutorial carefully.

12.  Enable “Performance Mode” in Settings tab. Use the Configuration mode only when you want to change settings.

13. To enable the downloaded preset go to Home and choose the preset you downloaded. In this case “Whiisker_Prismatic_TS4_Preset”

14. Take screenshots using “Print Screen”(Not C).

You can set a different destination folder for your screenshots.
By default it’s  C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin

And we’re done!

Hey, thanks so much for the tutorial! I’m just having one small problem. Everything reshade related is working smoothly but now when I enter tab mode or try to position my camera in different angles, the mouse sensitivity is all over the place. Now I don’t see and mouse sensitivity settings anywhere in game. Is there something I can do to fix this?

C:\Program Files (x86)\ should be in your C drive, if it is not, you have more problems to worry about than just how to install reshade.

Although it just now occurs to me, Windows 7 has both 32bit and 64 bit Operating Systems, if you don't have program files x86 try looking for it in program files. if its in program files, I believe you have the 32 bit version of 7.

Unless the folder is for some reason hidden, If so go to start>control panel>Appereance and Personalization. Select Folder options then select the view tab, then under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders and hit ok

Thank you! 💛 It's basically like a Print Screen when you take a screenshot using ReShade, so, you need to take a screenshot in Tab mode if you don't want the UI. 😊

I've seen a lot of people having this issue. And all mighty google says: *try closing all apps, most importantly the ones with overlay *playing in windows fullscreen *you can change the hot key in the ini file ...and that's pretty much it. I couldn't find much info about this problem. Maybe you'll find some help from the Reshade forum: https://reshade.me/forum/search?query=f2&titleonly=1&childforums=1&ids=

So for anyone having trouble with the shift + f2 issue. If you have a newer reshade like me the keybind got changed to the Home button (or aka pos1 on older keyboards). I was having the same issue of the menu not coming up and did some digging on the website and found out the keybind was changed in the newest version.

Had a crazy issue when I installed ReShade and then used Simemi's presets. All went as expected until I got in game and the mouse turnig speed got turned up to 11. Like any attempt to rotate the camera makes the room spin like you just polished off a bottle of Jack Daniels. It's uncontrollably fast. is there an adjustment that needs to be made? Do you think there is a setting I can adjust? Is it just a problem with the creator's preset and I have to find others? I'm reluctant to continue installing presets lol.

Hi! Not sure if it's a real issue or I simply mistook something, I've reinstalled my 3.4.1 version of reshade but whenever I select a preset I don't see their "settings" and most of them are not working. I see them in the folder, I select them, but it's like they have no "presets" in them. I use Directx9 and all settings are like they were before I had to reinstall it, it was working before. I run windows 10.
